It was during the summer of 1983 that something subliminal began twitching in my psyche, and I didn't know what exactly it was, but it was annoying my psyche.  I  knew from past experience that whatever it was, the answer would appear at my usual four AM revelation.  I tell about this particular dream in my book, Ando en cueros, but if you have not read Ando en cueros, I iterate a brief  account of  "floating through the sheers".  I was floating very high in the air and passing through many chiffon sheers of many colors; I remember them passing over my body like currents of water.  As I floated through them, I saw many different colors, secondary colors, and tertiaries, all created by seeing through two or three different sheers.  It was floating through the colored sheers of chiffon that revealed to me the use of aquatint etching as the best graphic medium for producing my images.

It is almost two thousand now, and aquatint etching is more than "floating through the sheers", it has become an obsession.
